MANLY PROJECT EDITION: Updated Etsy Logo!

Image
The manliest manly project - pink flying piggies!! Long ago, I had a strange dream about wearing a (rather ugly) necklace with a pig with wings, and in my dream, Ted asked about it and I said, "what, you don't like pig bees?!?" EVERYONE LIKES PIG BEES, JEEZ!! I woke up and thought, dang, that'd be a cute shop store name! And voila, such a fast-moving lady I am... a whopping 4+ years later, here I am with my very own pig bee logo!! I'm so excited - we went to  creativemarket.com  and found MANY adorable flying pigs, but these were the winners: Ted then put a little bee outfit and wings on the adorable piggie and changed its coloring: And now my store is updated from the "too boring to be named" shop to  pigmeepigbee.etsy.com ! Please go shopping!! I'll be updating my wares and photos soon!  Thank you, Ted!!!!

Valentine's Silhouette

Image
A friend of mine asked for some help making a silhouette for her honey for Valentine's Day! I've made quite a few in my day, from one of my Nesse cat:  to a few of me and Ted at our first trip as a couple to San Francisco (also Valentine's Day!) and of us at the Eiffel Tower where we got engaged: and of course, not to be forgotten, there were our  wedding invitations , so I thought why not! This will be a fun project!! So what is needed for making silhouettes, you might ask? I follow several steps. First of all, I take a picture and "create a shape" (I originally started making these in Photoshop when I was taking graphic design courses - I made  this cute party invite for my mom ! - and now with no access to Photoshop, I've figured out a way to create them in PowerPoint!) that outlines the figures and calls out any interesting focal points. For Keaton and Matt, we emphasized his bow tie, the shape of her face and his nose (otherwise ...

Finished Product!

Our wedding and all of our crafts turned out JUST like I'd hoped they would! It looked very Anthropologie-ish, with a little less bohemian and more classic thrown in... the silhouettes on the invitations and other signs kept things elegant and fancy, while the cafe lights and photobooth created an air of festivity! The lace tablecloths and burlap runner were very subtley elegant, and I was definitely overwhelmed with the love, support, friendship, and beauty surrounding the event! Below are a handful of pictures to show off all of our hard work! :) Bouquet and bouttoniere (bride and dad!!) walking down the aisle :) Matron of Honor, Bride, and Officiant (all siblings!) with our very cute lighting, paper pennants, handmade centerpieces and rustic elegant backyard! Here are the paper lanterns and tulle that I posted about earlier! Our drinks and signs throughout (some not pictured!) mirrored the design of the stationery and w...

Welcome Door Hangers

Image
I really wanted to do something unique for out-of-towners, but still be as frugal and crafty as possible! I quickly typed up a document in Word using 3 columns, utilizing the same fonts that we had on the invitations and save the dates, and voila! The trickiest part was the hole in the hanger - I took a round sticker, cut along the outside of it, and done! Crafty, cute, and custom!!

"Perfect Match" Wedding Favors

Image
I'm super excited about my wedding favors! They're not only adorable (and useful!), but under $1.75 each ;)  I have decided to give out little jars with matches in them (they can be stored as an alternative to matchbooks all over people's houses, or even taken camping and they're waterproof!) along with sparklers during our wedding reception for the send-off!  They are super easy - I purchased some vials with corks from Specialty Bottle Company  that are the right size for matches (these are .75"x2.75", but I could've gone a little bit shorter had I wanted!) and they each hold approximately 25 matches.  I also got strike anywhere matches - make sure you don't get the kind to strike on the box since you won't have a box to strike on!! You'll also need sandpaper and a large round hole punch (since the jar was .75" in diameter, the hole punch is also the same size because of course the cork is slightly larger), a glue stick, ribbon, and label...

Wedding Stationery in its Entirety!!!

Image
I've already shown you the save the dates  and wedding invitations , but we have added more!!! We also have RSVP cards now and directions! And of course an adorably assembled set, if I do say so myself ;) We matched the RSVP cards to the save the dates, and made the text a little more playful just for fun! Our directional cards are the same font and same blue as the RSVP cards, but striped like the invitations! Ted created an amazing back to the invitation, and we also created stickers out of the same "logo" with some fun paper we bought at a local paper store! And here is the full set all together! The stamps read "Katie & Ted the grandest adventure" which we think is appropriate because we love adventuring so much ;) The only part you don't see is the lovely one cent price increase, and we solved that issue by getting stamps with cats on them. It only made sense considering how much we love our Nesse cat! ...

Save the Dates

Image
Ted and I decided, hey, we're crafty folk, we can create our own stationery!  I kept seeing fun ideas on Etsy and other sites, but we also wanted it to go with our wedding website  which is FREE and the colors aren't editable.  Our wedding colors are yellow, gray, and navy, so we came up with ways to make the site and the invitations go together without going too far out of our way!  Here is my first draft (when I say "first", I mean the first of the last... really there are about 22 ideas floating around that were nixed!): But with Ted's handywork and mad Photoshop skillz, we ended up with the final product being even more adorable than we could imagine! And here we are, with color AND website coordinating save the dates! Our invitations are still in the works, but those are coming up next :)
